Over the past century, not too many things have changed about London in summer.  Office workers still emerge from hibernation during their lunch hour at the first sign of heat, people still disrobe in the Commons when the temperature peaks over 20 degrees Celsius and surprising heat waves are about as much of a 'summer' as we get. But one very big thing has changed. Just 100 years ago the Thames - yes that murky-watered, trash-littered Thames - was a popular swimming spot.
