10 Super Chic Ways to Wear Yellow in SummersFor me summer also resonates with bright & warm colours but there is one colour I’m always doubtful about – yellow. At the runway the colour dominated the collections for many designers like Delpozo, Kate Spade New York, Creatures of Comfort, Coach, Jason Wu & others. For years, we have seen yellow as a shade that does nothing for our skin tone, eyes or hair. It never fits anywhere and yellow outfits can leave us looking like lemons. It is without any doubt one of the trickiest colors to wear. But in the past one year, we have seen the some pretty amazing yellow outfits on the red carpet that it has now taken over as one of the top colors for the season. From Emma Stone’s La La Land yellow dress to Rihanna’s Met Gala gown, all variations of the color seem to shine bright at the red carpet. But as good as this color looks on the red carpet, can it be worn so fashionably IRL? The key to pulling of this pop of yellow is to embrace romantic silhouettes and understand the complementary colors that work well with it. Going Classic Most probably the easiest way to wear this color is going back to the classics. Team up a plain yellow tee with a pair of high-waist shorts or jeans. This works for both the bright as well as muted variations of the color. To make it even more fun, replace the regular shorts with ripped shorts. White Tune Yellow & White are two colors which shout summers. Team both of them together any way you like but just remember to keep the yellow in lighter or pastel shades otherwise you would become the sun. Yellow Sundress A classic forever is a nice yellow sun dress. One way to make it chic is to opt for flowy fabrics & silhouettes rather than something skin fit. Since brown is an earthly tone, it can help make the outfit look more grounded. So be sure to add a nice brown bag or pair of sandals. Tropical Love If you love prints, this one is for you. a plain yellow top can easily complement a good tropical print. The whole outfit can look super cute & appropriate for the season. Work Work Colored outerwear is a great way to incorporate a color into your wardrobe. Turn a basic white shirt & jeans combination into something completely different by just adding a yellow blazer over it. Not only is it a great way to add a pop of color but also if you feel like it is not working out, it would be easy to just remove it. Biker Chic Want to add some edge to your outfit? Add a nice black biker jacket over a yellow shift dress. Not only does it make the outfit edgier but also helps break the colors. Pleated Story A long pleated skirt is a summer staple. Take it to the next level & pair a mustard skirt with a dark blue or navy blue button down shirt. Not only is it a classic color combination but also is also looks really chic. Ditch the white dress A staple of all those beach Instagram photos is a long white flowy dress. This summer, ditch it for a nice long yellow dress with a nice print on it. Not only will it be different but also exactly on point with the trends this summer. Go all in If you want to take things one step further, wear a yellow suit. The more muted colors you will choose for your suit, the better it will look. Also skip the blazer for a long vest. It looks more chic & trendy. Bag It If you really don’t want to wear yellow on your sleeves, carry it with you. Carry a nice yellow bag with you. This way you won’t have to step outside your comfort zone. Hope this helps you in incorporating something yellow in your wardrobe this summer. How would you wear this color?
A Classic Handbag For Everyday Use - The Brock BlogJoshua is going to be leaving diapers behind soon so let’s talk PURSES! Last time that I shared a purse on the blog I had found the perfect “mom purse”. A purse that fit all of my needs and the needs of my child, but as he has gotten older the purse has become more and more empty. Soon I won’t even need to carry diapers in it. That being said it became time for me to find a purse that was more me, myself, and I because that will soon be the only person using it. As most of you know I don’t care if it is designer or whatever, it just needs to fit my personality and be something I could carry year round. Bethany at Hubba Hubba Handbags created just that. Hubba Hubba Handbags is owned by the lovely Bethany and she makes bags of all sizes and design. Her bags feature unique fabrics and plenty of character. Once I chose the style I wanted for my bag I let Bethany work her magic and now I have a bag that I have fallen in love with and is unique to me. From the simplicity of the black vinyl to the rainbow hardware the design of my personal Aster bag already screamed “HEY THIS IS JENNY’S BAG” but once I opened the bag and saw the lining I was beyond happy. For those of you who don’t know I am a part of many different fandoms. The top three are Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Supernatural. To my husband’s Twitch audience I am known as Sith so when I saw the Star Wars lining my heart was set on this purse. Bethany and her family were one of the many families that we drastically affected by the Paradise fire at the end of 2018. Being a part of that caused Bethany to take a break from creating her beautiful purses but she is back at it and constantly updating her facebook group with new purses that she has created. Hubba Hubba Handbags is thriving and I couldn’t be happier. This purse is one of the many designs that she can create and will have available to purchase! If you need something bigger or something smaller Bethany’s got you! Are you a purse carrier? Do you have one that you absolutely fell in love with? Let me know in the comments and be sure to join Hubba Hubba Handbags on Facebook or follow along on Instagram to see what is available and possibly find your dream bag! Related
CoverGirl Makeup Haul - The Brock BlogThis post includes affiliate links. If you choose to purchase from my post then I will make a small commission at no extra charge to you! Drugstore makeup is my life. Yes, I have a few high end products that I love but lately due to the price drugstore makeup has been calling my name! I usually stick to Maybelline but grew a little unsatisfied after time and began wondering if there was better out there, so I decided lets try some CoverGirl out. I decided to try out many different products from eyeshadow palettes to foundation primers. I loved some but some I am still on the fence about, so here are my thoughts about each individual product! First up is the new eyeshadows palettes from Walmart! I actually recently shared a tutorial using the Overthrown palette. These palettes in my opinion are a hit. My favorite is Revolution, with Ascension and Reign tied for second, putting Overthrown as my least favorite. The only reason Overthrown is not my favorite is because the colors it features are not colors I use a lot. These eyeshadow palettes retail for $14.98 (at Walmart only) and are perfect for the price! Next, I tried the CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Stay Fabulous 3-in-1. It’s 3-in-1 formula merges the steps of primer, concealer, and foundation all into one step. That being said I do still use a primer underneath. My usual buy is the Maybelline FITme Matte & Poreless. I will say that this foundation definitely has more coverage than my usual choice. ($9.47 @ Walmart.. similar pricing at Target and Ulta) I am still on the fence about this next product because when I apply it, it doesn’t feel like it is going to do anything. The CoverGirl Outlast All Day Primer is definitely different than my usual choice because usually I choose a poor minimizing primer not a generic primer that claims to do pretty much everything but color correct. I honestly will have to try it under my usual foundation before I can say if I like it or hate it since the Outlast All Day foundation includes primer. ($10.19 at Walmart.. similar pricing at Target and Ulta) The last item was a total hit for me! I am very picky when it comes to mascara and am obsessed with Two-Faced Better Than Sex mascara. That being said I can’t always spend a fortune on mascara so the CoverGirl Exhibitionist Mascara is definitely my go to option for an affordable mascara. It doesn’t flake and it makes your lashes look like a dream! The only downside is the waterproof one is impossible to get off… even with coconut oil! ($7.99 @ Target.. similar pricing at Ulta) Do you use CoverGirl products in your makeup routine? If so what are your favs? Let me know below! Related
