Nov. 7th, 1940: The tacoma narrows bridge in Washington begins to sway in 40mph winds until it ripped itself apart. The only death was Tubby, an unfortunate cocker spaniel. Bridge was nicknamed “galloping gertie” by construction crews for its tendency to sway.
