Extreme Near-Death Fall in Squamish (Calculus Crack)Insta- @ianic_bond This was a video I took on the first pitch of Calculus Crack last July. This was definately the scariest experience I have ever had leading a trad route. This pitch is a 5.10b variation of the famous "Calculus Crack-5.8" in Squamish, B.C. One poorly placed cam could have cost me the rest of my climbing carrier, and in different curcumstances, I would not be here to share this. I have learned much from this experience; however, the major thing that would have saved me from this terrible accident was better preparedness. Lucky, I only came out with a sprained ankle and rope burn- from where the rope wrapped around my neck during the fall. My biggest hope from posting this failure was for it to be a learning experience for beginning trad climbers. Be safe out there everyone!
