ArticleSACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A San Francisco Bay Area serial killer has died of unknown causes on California's death row, officials said Friday. Condemned inmate Anthony McKnight, 65, was found unresponsive in his San Quentin State Prison cell Thursday night and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The cause is awaiting an autopsy, but corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said there is no reason to suspect foul play. The former Navy sailor was sentenced to die in 2008 after Alameda County investigators linked his DNA to five young women slain in 1985: Betty Stuart, 22; Diane Stone; 17; Talita Dixon, 13; Monique Davis, 18; and Beverly Bryant, 24. The special circumstances that led to the death penalty included that he committed the multiple murders in the course of rape and sodomy. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Horner said during sentencing that he "butchered" his victims, who were beaten to death. The trial focused on DNA evidence that had been collected at the time but wasn't analyzed until the late 1990s, when new techniques became available. The discovery came after he had already been in prison since 1987, serving a 63-year sentence for attempted murder, rape with force, assault with a deadly weapon, oral copulation and kidnapping to commit a sex offense. He was convicted in that case of raping and trying to murder three other women, all of whom testified in his trial. Earlier this year, Gov. Gavin Newsom imposed a moratorium on the death penalty so long as he is governor, leaving 731 inmates on the nation's largest death row.

I belong to a village from District Narowal and to date, enjoy the status of the top scorer on the role of honour of Government Islamia High School DudhuChak, I say milk Chak. Got my Fsc from Govt college Lahore and MBBS from Allama Iqbal Medical College in 1990. Recently,I had my silver jubilee in ophthalmology and completed 25 years of ethical and dedicated, scientific ophthalmic practice. I accepted this on the advice of my mentor “Professor Wasif M Kadri” marhoom. I must say رحمت اللہ علیہ I still remember his words “WAPDA is a big department and you have the fragrance of ophthalmic knowledge and skills. The fragrance will spread and they will honour and acknowledge you” His prediction and dream came true. WAPDA authority was kind enough to allow a new space and provide state of art audio-visual equipment and laser machines to the department. We have established cataract, glaucoma and medical retina clinics along with comprehensive eye care facilities. The eye department is recognized by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for postgraduate training. We are in process under kind leadership of our DGMS, to get it affiliated with CPSP Pakistan for resident training as well. Last 10 years, we have presented more than 100 scientific research papers in national ophthalmology meetings and about 50 lectures and papers in international conferences. Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan has awarded me with three gold medals. I have got an International Ophthalmology education award 2015 by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. I thank my seniors and the authority, in particular, to allow me to proudly represent my department and my country on podiums of Asia Pacific, Europe and America. I believe that the pivot of any health system is a patient and a patient only. Special thanks are due to my patients who deposed faith in me and permitted me to treat them. It is their prayers and appreciation which has made me stand out. All about your eyes, we look and observe, With passion and care, we help and serve. اعجاز محبت سے توجہ سے دعا سے میرے مسیحا نے میری چارہ گری کی That is what I expect from a doctor and try to practice my self in its true sense Mr Chairman, we as doctors hold relevant positions in WAPDA medical facilities. I assure you, Sir, that you have got a fully committed and capable medical faculty. We are responsible for the physical, mental, social and spiritual health of Wapda employees, that is health. Thus we are related to all the sections of Wapda authority. Dear Sir, we are fully conscious of our responsibilities. With due regard, I suggest making WAPDA teaching hospital, a national pride by commissioning a WAPDA Medical College. This will not only make our hospital self-sufficient but will also bring medical services at par with international standards. It’s been an honour to be amongst such accomplished individuals and to be able to present my perspective before you.
